Henry Essex Edgeworth : Confessor of French King Louis XVI He was born in Edgeworthstown, County Longford, Ireland as the second child in a family of eight, four of whom died in infancy. His father was the third generation Church of Ireland rector of Edgeworthstown who with his family later converted to Roman Catholicism.
